These images illustrate un-staged, spontaneous human activity. Life is full of these moments, and one genre of photography attempts to capture images of them in a sympathetic way.

Making such images over a long time has taught me that, whether it is Moscow or Myanmar, we are more alike than we are different.

Monochrome photographs are not the norm in today's inundation of imaging, but I feel that for many images, it concentrates our viewing to help answer the question..."why did he take that picture?".
